A Keshena man was indicted April 24 in federal court with kidnapping, assault with the intent to murder and domestic assault by strangulation.
According to the indictment, John V. Miller Jr., 42, allegedly strangled a former girlfriend March 29 until she was unconscious and assaulted her with the intent to kill her. He then allegedly seized her and put her into the trunk of a car in an attempt to conceal his actions.
No further information was available from the U.S. Attorney’s Office about the case.
Miller is a member of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, and the alleged events occurred on the Menominee Reservation.
No court dates in the case have been set. Miller is being detained at the Menominee Tribal Jail, according to court records.
If convicted, Miller faces maximum penalties of 20 years each on the kidnapping and assault with the intent to murder charges, and 10 years on the domestic assault by strangulation offense.
The Menominee Tribal Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Andrew J. Maier will prosecute the case.
