Jeffrey A. Winkler, age 59, of Gillett, passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2022. Jeff was born Oct. 4, 1962, in Milwaukee to Gerald and Karen Winkler. He graduated from Gillett High School with the Class of 1981 and went on to attend UW-River Falls. Jeff worked at Architectural Fiberglass and Carver Boat. In 1988, Jeff developed viral encephalitis with an unknown origin. Jeff was able to live in his own home for 22 years. He enjoyed fishing, photography and deer hunting. Jeff was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan.
Jeff is survived by his parents, Jerry and Karen; brother, Jon (Debbie) Winkler of Mt. Horeb; three sisters, Janelle (Mike) Anderson of Pulaski, Jacqueline (Jeff) Konop of Woodbury, Minnesota, and Jill (Jim) Trochta of Suring. Jeff is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Chris Byars officiating. Jeff will be interred at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Gillett. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in memory of Jeff at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett.
