Jeffrey R. “Jeff” Sousek, 64, of the Town of Belle Plaine, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, while listening to Jimi Hendrix rock and Buddy Guy sing the blues, which brought a final smile to his face.
Jeff was born Jan. 19, 1957, in Tacoma, Washington, a son of Leland Sousek and Marceline (Brzezinski) Sousek Schmitt. He lived most of his life in Wisconsin. For 40 years he was a carpenter and builder, operating Sousek Brothers Quality Builders with his brother, Dan. He loved hanging out at “the land,” his property on Friendship Road. Jeff also loved rock and blues music and enjoyed playing guitar with friends, family and in several bands. Above all, he loved his family. Those who knew Jeff will remember him as a man whose heart was true, his spirit kind, his soul gentle and his lifestyle simple.
Jeff battled serious health issues for several years and was able to live the last few months, thanks to all the medical staff and support staff who cared for him at Shawano Health Services, several medical centers and clinics, as well as Shawano Hospice in his last few days.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; his son, Ryan; his brother, Dan (Cindy) Sousek; his sisters, Deb (Greg) Rades, all of Shawano; and his sister, Julie (Hans) Schmitt, of Birnamwood. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and two uncles.
In keeping with Jeff’s wishes, no public services will be held.
Mickelson Funeral and Cremation Service of Shawano is assisting the family with arrangements. Please share online condolences at www.mickelsonfs.com.
