Irene J. Mayernik

Irene J. Mayernik, 96, of Spruce, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay. Irene was born in Mt. Olive, Illinois, on Feb. 16, 1925, to the late George and Mary (Gavrun) Bobik. Irene married Albert Mayernik on Oct. 25, 1947, and they lived their whole married life on their farm in Spruce. She made lots of apple pies and enjoyed canning and baking. Irene loved spending time with her grandkids and her relatives that came to visit each summer. She is a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Oconto Falls. Irene is survived by her daughter, Irene (Steven) Drake of Gillett; a son, Albert G. Mayernik of Lena; five grandchildren, Andrew (Jen) Drake, Bri Drake, Cameron Drake, Paul (Mellissa) Mayernik and Dave (Siv) Mayernik; five great-grandchildren, Ellie, Ada, Ashton, Kayahna, Landon and one on the way; a sister, Utibela Bednarik of Suring; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Mayernik of Appleton. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, two brothers, Albert and John. Visitation was held on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Oconto Falls from 8:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Father Bob Karuhn officiating. Irene will be interred in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Spruce next to her husband. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family.
