Authorities were still looking Tuesday for a woman who tried to hold up the Gresham State Bank on Monday and fled the scene without getting any money.
The incident sparked a brief lockdown at the nearby Gresham School after witnesses said the woman fled on foot in that direction.
Stockbridge-Munsee Police responded to a robbery alarm at the bank, 801 S. Main St., about 2:40 p.m. Monday.
Chief James Hoffman said detectives were still working the area Tuesday, trying to develop leads. Police have also been in contact with the state crime lab and the FBI for assistance.
Hoffman said the woman went to one of the bank windows and presented a note demanding money to the teller. No weapon was displayed, he said.
The teller told the woman she didn’t have any money in her drawer, and the woman fled the scene, according to Hoffman.
Hoffman said there were plenty of witnesses who saw the woman inside the bank and in the area of the bank before and after the incident, but police have not yet identified her.
Witnesses described the woman as dark-skinned, with black hair, dark-colored clothing, a hat and sunglasses.
Police are examining bank surveillance video.
