All hay stored on Wisconsin farms as of May 1, 2024, was estimated at 390,000 tons, down 30% from May 1, 2023, according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Crop Production report.
Disappearance from Dec. 1, 2023, through May 1, 2024, totaled 1.13 million tons, compared with 1.61 million tons for the same period a year ago.
All hay stored on United States farms as of May 1, 2024, totaled 21.0 million tons, up 47% from May 1, 2023. Disappearance from Dec. 1, 2023 – May 1, 2024, totaled 55.7 million tons, down 3% from the same period a year earlier.
Record high May 1 hay stock levels were estimated in Montana, Oklahoma and Utah. Record low hay stocks were estimated in Rhode Island.
