HISTORY: These two teams have met 17 times with the Packers boasting an 11-6 record. The most famous meeting between the two teams came in January 1997. The Packers had disposed of the San Francisco 49ers with the entire crowd chanting, “We want Dallas.”
The crowd would not get their wish as the upstart Carolina Panthers led by future Packers’ defensive coordinator Dom Capers would upset the Cowboys. A rout would follow. The Packers won the NFC Championship Game 30-13 against an overwhelmed Panthers team.
The last time these teams met was during the COVID-19 season, with the Packers winning 24-16.
The last time these two teams met in Carolina was in 2017. Aaron Rodgers returned from a broken collarbone suffered earlier in the season to try and make a late season run at the playoffs.
His return would last one game, as the Panthers would beat the Packers 31-24, effectively ending the Packers’ season.
