As impossible as it seems, summer is rushing past, while I am still in recovery. This is the time of year that I am normally trying to take last-minute pictures for the fair, and printing up those I had already taken. I love the Shawano County Fair, and the fact is, it is right around the corner.
I don’t have any Photoshop type software on my computer, no dark room. I just look through the pictures I have taken since the last fair, pick some to enter, take them on a camera chip to a photo kiosk in a store and do my order. Well, the one I normally had gone to has changed, and I am left in confusion as to what I have ordered and am unhappy that I am unable to crop as I had been able to in the past.
I have often felt like I have been left in the dust by modern technology. There are things with my computer that I think I know how to do, but at times, it doesn’t respond as expected. So, then I am in a tizzy, wondering if it did as I had directed.
The past two weeks when I tried to send my column to the newspaper, via email, I was told that the email was sent, however, an error occurred and the fact of it being sent will not show in the sent file. Right away red flags jumped up in my mind, and I would question the editors as to whether they received it or not. So far it has been affirmative.
Now today I typed something using my word processing software and tried to email it, and all kinds of things popped up. Won’t show in sent folder, but it was sent, and then later it said it wasn’t sent, advising me to check my email server. Yeah, like I know how to do that?
I know that if I address an envelope, and put the article in there, put a stamp on and mail it, it will reach its destination. However, even that is not fail safe. I know for a fact that not all letters get to where they are to go, address might be wrong or unreadable, and it takes days instead of seconds.
However, lately, putting things into cyberspace has left me wondering, too. Did it go? Was my server working right? Did I have the right email address to send it to? Did it reach its destination?
There is no doubt email is the way to go, if things are working as they should. It makes it easy for me, and also easy for the ones receiving it. They can just download it, and pop it in where they want it to be.
Email is not the only thing confusing me lately. I recently was given a 25 percent coupon to save on my next order; I only had to do my order online. I tried to do so, got confused and gave up in frustration. Saving money is always good; however, getting all upset in trying to figure it out is not. If they want my business, they should just give me the savings anyway.
I often say I don’t like change, and yet it is all around us, no matter what. Take the seasons. While winter doesn’t have to rush in, I do love fall. Plus, in autumn I will be more mobile and should be able to drive.
