WalMart awarded 20 teachers from Suring Elementary School with $50 reward cards to purchase classroom supplies to help students start the year off right. As part of the Walmart Teacher Reward Program, the local educators were honored at an awards ceremony Oct. 16 at Suring Elementary.
During the ceremony, Principal Pam Berg and Walmart assistant manager Marty Monfils told how the Teacher Reward cards will benefit the students at Suring Elementary.
For the sixth year in a row, Walmart donated over $4.5 million to provide over 90,000 classroom teachers across the United States with cards to help offset the personal funds classroom teachers spend at the beginning of the year. Statistically, teachers spend close to $1,000 of their own funds to ensure their students have everything they need for a successful year.
