Shawano students hold successful food drive

Students at Olga Brener Intermediate School collected hundreds of food items during their December Traveling Trophy Challenge. Each month, the school’s students compete against each other in a challenge with a winner declared at each grade level. The winning classroom gets to display the trophy for a month, and students receive an extra recess while the teacher receives an extra break. December’s challenge is always a food drive. This year, the food was donated to the Shawano Area Food Pantry and Resource Center (SAFPARC). The winning classrooms and the total items collected were Judielynn Bauer’s third-grade class, 114 items; Courtney Carlson’s fourth-grade class with 223 items; and Jennifer Sperberg’s fifth-grade class with 356 items.
