Sam W. House Sr., 79, of Shawano, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, in Appleton. Born on Oct. 17, 1933, in Dickson County, Tenn., he was the son of the late Pauletta (Carr) Snead.
On Jan. 24, 1955, he was united in marriage to Shirley A. Anderson in Chicago. After marriage the couple moved to the town of Red Springs, where they owned and operated a dairy farm for nearly 30 years. Sam loved his land and enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing, as well as some good southern country food. After retirement, the couple moved to the Shawano area. Sam had a very special place in his heart for his family and lived for time spent with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sam is survived by his daughter, Beverly (Richard) Neumeier, of Gresham; his son, Sam W. (Joan) House Jr., of Roselle, Ill.; five grandchildren, Melissa (Wally) Moesch, Miranda (Aaron) Eadler, Nicki (Derrick) Bernard, Cassandra House, Sammy W. House III; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Dylan, Cole; a brother, Marshall House, of Chipley, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Belva Gleaves, of Gresham; and several nieces and nephews.
Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, on May 27, 2013; a daughter-in-law, Cindy House; his mother, Pauletta Snead; a brother, Homer O. House; and two sisters, Mary Lou Rohde and Hazel Burns.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham with the Rev. David Barrett officiating. Entombment will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Gresham on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
