It’s with heavy hearts, but gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of Russell Vernon Olson, 95, who died peaceably at home on May 6, 2024.
Born Aug. 28, 1928, he was a lifelong resident of Stiles Junction.
Russell was preceded by his parents, Arthur and Mina (Danielson) Olson, and sister, Jeanette Skaggs Schroeder.
Russell was a graduate of Oconto Falls High School, class of 1945. He was a lifelong dairy farmer on their Century Farm at Stiles Junction. On June 5, 1954, Russell married Lorraine (Rasmussen) Olson. Next month, they would’ve celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Russell attended the Oconto Gospel Chapel where he served both as a board member and elder. He loved to read, travel, visit with family and friends and just enjoy the simplicity of a Sunday afternoon picnic or country ride.
Russell’s steadfast love and caring for his wife Lorraine was immeasurable. He was proud of and faithfully supported his children, Lori Ann Olson of Green Bay and David (Laura) Olson of Lena, in their endeavors. He is further survived by grandchildren, Daniel (Hannah) Olson, Bethany (Nelson) Brubaker, Leah Olson, Johanna (Marcus) Zimmerman, Sara (Lyndon) Zimmerman, Kristina Olson, John (Loryn) Olson and Lydia Olson, as well as 25-great grandchildren.
His life reflected God’s grace as he quietly lived out his faith, serving those around him at home, at church and in the community.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Oconto Gospel Chapel, Oconto, from 9-11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2024. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Adam Sellen officiating. Burial will be at Stiles Cemetery.
Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made toward a memorial fund for the Oconto Gospel Chapel and WRVM radio.
