Bears beat Falcons in volleyball
The Bonduel High School volleyball team beat Amherst in four games Tuesday in Amherst.
Bonduel (3-4 Central Wisconsin Conference-8) beat Amherst (3-4 CWC-8) 25-19, 25-15, 25-27, 25-15.
Jenni Dowden had 25 kills and 26 digs for Bonduel. She also had seven blocks. Courtney Schmidt had 18 assists.
Hawks fall in five games
The Shawano Community High School volleyball team pushed West De Pere to five games, but came up short in a Bay Conference match Tuesday in De Pere.
Shawano (1-5 Bay) beat West De Pere (2-4) in the first game 25-22, lost the second 28-26, won the third 25-11, then lost the next two 25-10, 15-4.
Shawano’s Kayla Hokenstad and Tori Wiskow each had seven kills. Erika Dunnam had six kills 10 digs and three aces. Haley Going had 20 digs and three aces. Annelies Young had 59 assists, and Maidson McBride had 47 assists.
Gresham swept by Almond-Bancroft
The Gresham High School volleyball team was swept by Central Wisconsin Conference-10 foe Almond-Bancroft on Tuesday in Gresham.
Gresham (2-7 CWC-10) lost to Almond-Bancroft (4-5 CWC-10) 25-23, 25-21, 25-21.
Brittny Andrews had seven kills and seven digs for Gresham. Nande Carroll had 21 assists. Stehberger had 10 points.
Witt-Birn stays undefeated
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School volleyball team improved to 7-0 in the Central Wisconsin Conference-8 Tuesday with a sweep of Iola-Scandinavia in Iola.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood (7-0 CWC-8) beat Iola-Scandinavia (1-6) 25-11, 25-11, 25-11.
Micah Nier had 12 kills and seven digs for Wittenberg-Birnamwood. Taylor Bushman had nine kills and nine digs. Taylor Nier had eight kills and nine digs. Hannah Buntrock had six kills, and Madison Bushman had 33 assists.
Wildcats third at tourney
The Gresham High School volleyball team finished third in a tournament Saturday in Gresham.
The Wildcats beat Northern Lutheran, 25-20, 27-29, 25-23. Gresham lost to tournament champion Gibraltar 25-17, 25-20, but won the third set 25-17. Gresham was also swept by Stevens Point Pacelli, 25-18, 25-21, 25-19.
Nande Carroll had 38 assists and 17 points for Gresham. Lindsay Anderson had 16 kills. Brittny Andrews and Brianna Stehberger had 16 digs each. Andrews also had 14 points.
The Gresham junior varsity team went 2-1 in the tournament.
Reiter 2nd at Marion Invite
Menominee Indian High School cross-country runner Brandon Reiter was second and the Eagles boys team finished second Monday at the Marion Mustang Invitational in Marion.
Reiter finished in 19:55 to take second. Teammate Tyler Komanekin finished seventh in 22:50.
Iola-Scandinavia took first and Manawa took third.
In the girls meet, Marion took third, led by Delaney Greene-Gretzinger’s fourth-place finish in 17:39.
Iola-Scandinavia took first, followed by Peshtigo.
Wildcats top Three Lakes
The Gresham/Bowler soccer team beat Three Lakes 5-4 in a match Tuesday in Three Lakes.
Scott Cerveny had three goals and an assist to lead Gresham/Bowler (14-6). Austin Olson and Kalen Fischer each had a goal, and Walker Miller had two assists.
Neil Cerveny had one save tending the Wildcats’ goal.
