A plea hearing was held for Dennis M. Heath, 58, Keshena. He pleaded no contest to a felony charge of sex registry violation and four misdemeanor charges, which allegedly occurred on June 20, 2014, in Shawano. A $10,000 cash bond continues. Sentencing is Sept. 11.
Proceedings from July 23
A sentencing hearing was held for Lazaro A. Sanchez-Orama, 28, Oconto, on a felony charge of substantial battery and misdemeanor charges on April 20 and June 10 in Oconto. He was sentenced to one year, six months incarceration and two years extended supervision, with the conditions of absolute sobriety and no contact with the victim, victim’s family or any minor children.
A motion hearing was held for Megan M. Leathers, 36, Oconto. She stood mute on felony charges of OWI (fourth within five years), operating with prohibited alcohol concentration (fourth within five years) alcohol fine enhancer and bail jumping, which allegedly occurred April 12 in Little River. A $10,000 cash bond continues. A jury trial is Sept. 30.
An arraignment was held for Daniel Smith, 47, Oconto. He pleaded not guilty to felony charges of strangulation and suffocation (domestic abuse) and substantial battery (domestic abuse) and one misdemeanor charge, which allegedly occurred June 10 in Oconto. A $1,500 cash bond continues. A pretrial conference is Sept. 10.
Proceedings from July 22
An adjourned initial appearance was held for Douglas J. Kempke, 36, Pound, on felony charges of child abuse-intentionally cause harm, child abuse- recklessly cause harm (two counts) and a misdemeanor, which allegedly occurred March 2013 through April 2015 in the town of Oconto Falls. The court set a $2,500 signature bond. A preliminary hearing is Aug. 31.
A sentencing hearing was held for Ronald A. McDowell Jr., 26, Green Bay. On a felony charge of possession of THC (second offense) Oct. 11 in Abrams, a determinate sentence of 18 months incarceration and two years extended supervision was imposed and stayed, and he is to serve three years of probation and spend six months in jail. He must successfully complete all treatments and follow-through, maintain absolute sobriety and gain and maintain full-time employment.
Proceedings from July 20
A final pretrial was held for Derek J. Klein, 38, Oconto, on felony charges of interfere with child custody (four counts), which allegedly occurred Oct. 19, 20 and 21 in Marinette. A $2,000 cash bond continues. A plea hearing was scheduled July 29.
