An adjourned initial appearance was held for Brody J. Tappa, 21, Oconto, on charges of battery (repeater), disorderly conduct, domestic abuse (repeater) and criminal damage to property (repeater), which allegedly occurred July 9 in the town of Oconto. A cash bond of $20,000 continues. A preliminary hearing is Aug. 28.
A waiver preliminary/bail bond hearing was held for Bowe D.L. Gagnon, 19, Abrams, on a felony charge of burglary to a building or a dwelling, party to a crime, and two misdemeanor charges, which allegedly occurred July 10 in Stiles. A $5,000 cash bond was reduced to a $1,000 cash bond. An arraignment is Sept. 10.
A waiver preliminary hearing was held for Michael R. Knight, 33, Oconto Falls, on felony charges of child abuse intentionally cause harm (repeater) and two misdemeanor charges, which allegedly occurred July 26 in Oconto Falls. A $5,000 cash bond continues. An arraignment is Sept. 8.
A waiver preliminary hearing was held for James L. Nerenhausen, 18, Oconto, on felony charges of child abuse intentionally cause harm, which allegedly occurred July 19 in Oconto. A $500 cash bond continues. An arraignment is Sept. 8.
An arraignment/plea hearing was held for Joseph J. Phelps, 38, Lena. He pleaded no contest to a felony charge of bail jumping July 19 in Little River. Four misdemeanor charges are to be read in and dismissed. A $3,000 cash bond continues. A sentencing hearing is Sept. 29.
A waiver preliminary hearing/arraignment was held for Cody J. Meyer, 27, Lena. He pleaded not guilty to felony charges of hit-and-run causing injury (repeater) and a meanderings charge, which allegedly occurred July 15 in Oconto Falls. A $1,500 cash bond continues. A pretrial conference is Sept. 21.
Proceedings from Aug. 19
A sentencing hearing was held for Isaiah M. Perez, 20, Oconto, on felony charges of burglary of a building or dwelling, party to a crime, and theft movable property, party to a crime, and one misdemeanor charge, which occurred Aug. 20, 2014, in Oconto. A sentence of 18 months incarceration and two years extended supervision was imposed and stayed, and he was placed on probation three years. He must obtain and maintain full-time employment. If not working or if laid off for two weeks, an additional 60 days of jail time will be added to the sentence. He must obtain a valid driver’s license, and if there are any positive drug or alcohol tests, the court orders no driving any vehicle. He must successfully complete Compass and alcohol and other drug abuse assessments and follow through, may not have contact with the victim or others involved and maintain absolute sobriety. All other charges were read in and dismissed.
A sentencing hearing was held for Sterling L. Soman, 20, Wabeno, on felony charges of vehicle operator fleeing and eluding an officer, bail jumping and possession of THC, second-plus offense, which occurred March 30 in Maple Valley. On count 1, vehicle operator fleeing and eluding an officer, he was sentenced to 18 months incarceration and two years extended supervision. On count two, felony bail jumping, he was sentenced to two years incarceration and two years extended supervision to run concurrent to count one. He must participate in all assessments and follow through, have no contact with the victims and maintain absolute sobriety. A forfeiture and two misdemeanors were read in and dismissed by the court.
Proceedings from Aug. 17
A waiver preliminary hearing was held for Michael C. Noffke, 23, Cecil, on felony charges of theft, movable property, and a misdemeanor charge, which allegedly occurred May 1-18 in Underhill. A $500 cash bond continues. An arraignment is Aug. 31.
A sentencing hearing was held for Savannah R. Martin, 16, Laona, for offenses, which occurred Nov. 29 and 30 in Townsend and bail jumping, which occurred April 15. On a felony charge of knowingly operating while suspended, causing great bodily harm, she was sentenced to one year in jail. Her driver’s license is revoked two years and she must successfully complete alcohol and other drug abuse assessment and follow through. On the felony charge of operator fleeing and eluding an officer, great harm, she was sentenced to 18 months incarceration and three years extended supervision. On two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, she was sentenced to 18 months incarceration and three years extended supervision to run concurrent to the first sentence. She must obtain a high school diploma, gain full-time employment and maintain absolute sobriety. Charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, causing injury, and bail jumping were dismissed.
Proceedings from Aug. 14
A sentencing hearing was held for Gage M. Giese, 20, Gillett, on a felony charge of a sex registry violation April 24 and Oct. 24 in Oconto. A sentence of 18 months incarceration and three years extended supervision was imposed and stayed, and Giese was placed on probation two years. He must register as a sex offender in Wisconsin and Colorado, following all the rules, must complete and follow through with any and all assessments, may not posses any weapons or ammunition and must maintain absolute sobriety. An expunction may be allowed if he successfully completes his probation and stays crime free for two years.
An initial appearance was held for Tyler J. Wolf, 25, Oconto on a felony charge of strangulation and suffocation (domestic abuse, repeater) and three misdemeanor charges, which allegedly occurred Aug. 13 in Oconto. The court set a $20,000 cash bond. A continued initial appearance is Sept. 10.
