Nora E. Schreiber, 99, of Shawano, went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday evening, Nov. 17, 2014, at Maple Lane Health Care Center, with her family present.
Nora was born Aug. 9, 1915, in the town of Waukechon, Shawano County, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Gustave and Rachael (Dornfeldt) Reinke.
She attended country schools in the town of Waukechon. On Feb. 25, 1936, she was united in marriage to Norman A. Schreiber in Shawano. Following their marriage the couple lived in Shawano for their entire married life. Norman preceded her in death in May 1995.
Nora worked at various positions throughout her life, including Martin Cleaners and Lincoln School in the lunchroom. Nora is a lifelong member of the Peace United Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir. She was an avid gardener and liked to quilt and sew. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving family, Darlene “Dolly” (Dieck) Dahm, of Fremont, Lester Schreiber, Sally Raddant, Joanne (Al) Hartmann, Beatrice Nicolai, Wayne (Jan) Schreiber, all of Shawano, Catherine (Ron) Maas, of Pewaukee, Richard (Annette) Schreiber, of Shawano, Marilyn Richards also of Shawano, and her special helper, Joey Haeflinger of Clintonville. She is further survived by 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
Nora was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; her son, Antone, in 1953; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren. She was the last survivor of six children.
A celebration of the life of Nora Schreiber will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Peace Church in Shawano. Pastor Marty Black will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 2 p.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials in Nora’s name for the Peace United Church of Christ, Shawano.
