2 charged in pawn shop break-ins

Two people have been charged in Shawano County with the burglary of one pawn shop in Shawano and attempted burglary of another. Jacob J. Magee, 18, of Coleman, and Robert J. Willis, 21, of Green Bay, are accused of breaking into the Black Bear Trading Post on May 12 and attempting to break into the Shawano Pawn Shop the same day. According to the criminal complaint, the pair’s alleged involvement in the Shawano break-ins were brought to light during Marinette County’s investigation into numerous burglaries there. The complaint states Magee and Willis admitted to trying to break into the Shawano Pawn Shop before being scared off when the alarm sounded, then breaking into the Black Bear Trading Post and stealing several knives before being frightened off by the alarm there. Both of the suspects could face a maximum 12 1/2 years in prison and $25,000 fine if convicted of burglary, and a maximum six years and three months and $12,500 fine for attempted burglary. They also face misdemeanor charges of theft and criminal damage to property. Magee is facing 14 counts of burglary in Marinette County, according to court records. The Wisconsin Circuit Court Access website does not show any pending burglary charges against Willis except those filed in Shawano County. Magee and Willis are both scheduled for initial court appearances in Shawano County on July 22.
