Tribal police nab man sought by feds

A 26-year-old man wanted by the U.S. Marshal’s Office was taken into custody by Menominee Tribal Police on Wednesday after authorities originally thought he might be in the city of Shawano. City police had been assisting the marshal’s office over the past week, checking out several locations in the city where federal authorities had information the man might be located. Those tips failed to turn up the man, but they did lead to a charge of obstruction Wednesday morning against a 45-year-old Shawano woman believed to have some connection with him. It was not clear why federal authorities were searching for the man, but Police Chief Ed Whealon said he was wanted in connection with alleged criminal matters in other jurisdictions, including some out of state.
