Arthur “Art” A. Meisner, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Cecil on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014. Surrounded by family, he relinquished the earthly life fraught with pain to accept his new and everlasting life.
Art was born in Green Bay on Sept. 22, 1937, to the late Arthur R. and Emma (nee Beilfuss) Meisner. Art and his parents moved from the town of Lessor to Cecil in 1941. Art was an avid outdoorsman who very much enjoyed the hunting and fishing that his beloved Conover in Vilas County afforded. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop, of which he was so proud. Cultivation of raspberries was another hobby of Art’s. Many people have enjoyed the fruits of this hobby. Art was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in the town of Washington.
Art is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane (nee Moede); children, Mary (Richard) Ruehle and Thomas Meisner; grandchildren, Sarah (Tim) Schmalz, Mariah Ruehle (friend, Andy), Nathan and Zachary Meisner; siblings, Roger (Kathleen) Meisner and Janice (Thomas) Papendorf. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jonathan Paul Meisner, and a sister, Marilyn, who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, town of Washington, W4496 County Road E, Bonduel, with the Rev. Steven Pockat officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held at Appleton Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
