Dorothy A. Grosskopf, 88, of Tigerton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at Homme Home of Wittenberg.
Dorothy Adeline Bazile was born May 7, 1927, in Hunting to Joseph and Adeline (Ball) Bazile. She was the youngest of 14 children.
Dorothy graduated from Marion High School and worked at several jobs prior to her marriage. She was united in marriage on Oct. 11, 1947, to Edward Herman Grosskopf at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marion. Dorothy and Edward moved to Racine where they adopted two children, Edward and Lisa. They returned to the area in 1967, moving to Split Rock, where they opened Ed and Dot’s Sportsman’s bar, a bar and restaurant they ran for 25 years.
Dorothy was a devoted member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Tigerton, and was involved in the Altar Society, women’s groups, and helped to found the annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner. From her early years of caring for the altar cloths and vestments to representing rural parish women in the diocese, there was no call to duty for her church that Dorothy would turn down if she was able.
Dorothy also enjoyed traveling to see family, spending time with her granddaughters, gardening, and baking and cooking. She learned the value of feeding body and soul.
She is survived by two children: a son, Edward (Marie) Grosskopf, of Wausau, and a daughter, Lisa (Donn) Schneider, of Green Bay; and two grandchildren, Melissa Grosskopf, of Wausau, and Amanda Grosskopf, of Eau Claire. Dorothy is further survived by many other relatives and friends. She will also be remembered by the numerous customers who came to Ed and Dot’s over the years for good food, good laughs and a chance to get together with neighbors.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward, in 1987, and sisters and brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Tigerton. The Rev. Jose Castaneda will officiate, and burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at the church.

As her family, we would like to thank the staff at Homme Home of Wittenberg. They went out of their way to help, guide, entertain and treat Dorothy with incredible love and respect. She was loved, and she knew it. Dorothy will be greatly missed by family and friends.
