James “Bozo” Zhuckkahosee Jr. (Misquinachia – Bloody Hands) started his journey to
the Spirit World on Sunday evening, Jan. 3, 2016, at his home in Green Bay.
James was born on Jan. 7, 1943, in Concho, Oklahoma, a son of the late James and Matilda
(Waupoose) Zhuckkahosee. He moved to Crow Settlement with his family at the age of
10. James proudly served his country as a United States Marines during the Vietnam
Era. Upon returning from service, he was able to travel to New Orleans and Georgia for
his job.
James had been employed over the years as an iron worker. He helped build the
famed Great Lakes freighter Edmund Fitzgerald. Other jobs included working as a
factory worker, printer and chef. He enjoyed his work as a chef and cooking to please
others. He met the late Rev. David Kiefer while cooking at the seminary. He enjoyed
being in the woods camping, fishing, hunting and making maple syrup when able.
James is a big drum owner and belonged to the Big Drum Warrior Society.
Survivors include his loving wife of 19 years, Rhoda; five daughters, Vivian (Jay) Sickler,
of Redgranite, Lauri ( Dennis) Sanapaw, of Keshena, Danielle Zhuckkahosee, of
Shawano, Deanna Kobs, of Green Bay, and Tamar (Juan) Zhuckkahosee-Ramirez,
of Green Bay; his grandchildren, James Berg, Jake (Janet) Berg, Kevin M. Conant Jr.,
Keenan Zhuckkahosee, Denisha Sanapaw, Lalaine Sanapaw, Heaven Leigh Klemens,
Helena Klemens, Ariana Klemens, Chee-Chee Zhuckkahosee, Eliza Jean
Zhuckkahosee, Esperanza Cruz, Maya Cruz, Alfonzo Cruz, Atxel Ramirez, Johnny
Ramirez, Santiago Ramirez; his great-grandchildren, Alexis and Milynn Berg, and Riley
Borhegyi; his stepchildren, Wanda Knipp, Cheyenne Knipp, Clarissa Knipp and Travis
Knipp; his stepgrandchildren, Cassandra, Deanna, Kendra, Natashia, Kayla,
Savannah, Tashnia, Damion, Marissa and Killian; four brothers, Reginald (Carol)
Zhuckkahosee, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Thomas (Karen) Zhuckkahosee, of Milwaukee,
Aloysius (Alberta) Zhuckkahosee ,of Keshena, and Lee Allen Zhuckkahosee, of
Keshena; six sisters, Myrna (Tom) Bergen, of Shawano, Sandra Draghi, of Keshena,
Marcia Zhuckkahosee (special friend Loren Washinawatok), of Keshena, Lisa
Zhuckkahosee, of Milwaukee, Leona (Charles) Zhuckkahosee, of Neopit, and Clarice
(Doyle) Wilber, of Neopit; and many nieces and nephews.
Traditional services for James will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at 10 a.m.
at the Zoar Ceremonial Building. John Teller will be the speaker. Burial will take place
at Crow Settlement. Relatives and friends may call at the Ceremonial Building in Zoar
after 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2016.
