Geneva M. “Gen” (Snortum) Lefeber, 86, of Mountain, was laid to rest in the arms of our Lord on July 2, 2013, at Villa Loretto Nursing Home, Mt. Calvary.
She was born on Oct. 25, 1926, in Chilton, daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Jannsen) Snortum.
Gen attended school in Gravesville.
On May 31, 1944, she married Edwin W. Lefeber in Chilton.
Edwin preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1998.
Gen worked at Tecumseh Products, New Holstein. She also helped with her husband’s business, Lefeber Well Drilling, and raised her seven children.
Gen loved to be with her children, grandchildren and friends. She loved to tell her endless list of stories and jokes and do card tricks. She also loved to travel and spend time at the casinos and do a bit of gambling.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Chute Lake, Mountain.
Survivors include her children: Eugene (Audrey) Lefeber, Lincolnton, N.C., Dennis (Shirley) Lefeber, Johnsburg, Gary (Linda) Lefeber, Fond du Lac, Diane (James) Klotz, New Holstein, Cynthia (Robert) Knaus, Johnsburg, Lloyd Lefeber, (special friend, Laquita), Mountain, Kevin Lefeber, Plymouth, and a daughter-in-law, Roberta Lefeber, Fond du Lac. She is further survived by 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Alberta Maroszek, Kiel, sister-in-law, Eva Snortum, Milwaukee, numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Oscar, Lester (Alice) and Arthur (Luella) Snortum, two sisters, Alma (Boettcher) Schweitzer, Evangeline Schweitzer, two brothers-in-law, Wilmer Boettcher, Leo Schweitzer, and two grandchildren, Melissa and Bradley Klotz.
Family and friends called on Friday, July 5, at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel. A vigil service was held Friday at the funeral home.
Family and friends called at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Chapel in Chute Lake, Mountain, from 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, until the time of the service.
The funeral Mass for Geneva was held Saturday, July 6, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Chapel, with the Rev. Dean Dombroski officiating.
Burial took place in Mountain Cemetery.
Gen’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the sisters and staff of Villa Loretto Nursing Home for being so wonderful to mom while she was there. God bless you all.
