The second barn quilt in the Barn Quilts of Oconto County project was installed at the Linzmeyer farm in Gillett by the linemen from the Oconto Electric Cooperative.
The quilt block pattern chosen by Nancy Linzmeyer is Spring Radiance, and the red, white and blue color choice was chosen to honor veterans.
The first Oconto County block in the program is on display at the Chase Stone Barn Park.
Project coordinators have 18 confirmed orders for barn quilts and several more for community blocks, which are smaller, 4- by 4-foot painted blocks.
The quilt blocks are painted at New View Industries by their clients. Several volunteers help with the project. Retired math teacher Donna Baird comes in every week to lay out the patterns, and Fran Wisneski helps paint..
Oconto Electric Cooperative supports the project by donating the use of equipment, and the OEC linemen donate their time to install the blocks. Several hardware stores donated supplies, such as paint, brushes and tape, and Oconto Pharmacy will soon feature a Block of the Month for quilters, featuring the Barn Quilts of Oconto County blocks.
