Thirteen nurses from Community Memorial Hospital were honored for achieving advancements in the CMH Achieving Clinical Excellence program. The professional advancement program encourages continuing education, performance improvement and service to CMH and the community.
“We have made some outstanding accomplishments,” said Kay Baranczyk, CMH chief nursing officer and director of hospital operations. “We designed this program to have strict standards at each level of advancement. Having three nurses reach level four this year is quite an achievement.”
The ACE program is in its fifth year at CMH and consists of tiers of achievement up to level four. Nurses begin at level one and can achieve advanced levels by earning extra certifications, acting as preceptors to visiting healthcare students, leading quality improvement initiatives and providing community service. This year’s quality improvement projects included fall prevention, patient education and infection prevention initiatives. Community services offerings included Family and Friends CPR classes, skin cancer screenings and babysitting courses.
Level four honors went to CMH registered nurses Stephanie Meyer, Lori Schaden and Tim Soper. Reaching level three were Paula Bake, Sarah Borkovec, Angie Coppens, Brittany Dufek, Rosemary Rosenthal and Paula Seefeldt. Level two recognition went to Misty Reed, Deana Risner, Marlene Thompson and Gina Tisch.
