Gruetzmacher allowed two hits and issued one walk in seven innings.
Oconto Falls (5-2, 1-1 Fox River Valley-North) scored all four of its runs in the bottom of the first inning. Leadoff hitter Sam Shroyer walked and then scored on a one-out single by Brett Ash. Ash scored on a single by Gruetzmacher, who scored with a Wesley Brabant single. Connor Sefcik (2 for 3, double) knocked in Oconto Falls’ final run on a single.
Sam Ziegler took the loss for Appleton. He struck out four, walked four, and allowed five hits and four runs in six innings.
