Local girl to compete in American Miss pageant

Lyniah Leja, 11, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Wisconsin Pageant to be held from Aug. 21-23 at Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells. The National American Miss pageants are held for girls 4-18 and have five age divisions. Lyniah will participate in the preteen age division. The National American Miss pageant program is based on inner beauty, poise and presentation. The emphasis is put on developing self-confidence, learning good sportsmanship, and setting and achieving personal goals. The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, crown, banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant in California, where she will receive a complimentary tour of Hollywood and two tickets to Disneyland. Leja’s activities include cheerleading, 5K run/walk and summer school. She enjoys camping, swimming, fishing, walking, biking, gardening and playing with friends, her sister, Alysha, cousin, Lily Anne, and her dog, Max.
