The Lena Police Department will hold National Night Out from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the St. Anne Parish grounds. The event is free and open to the community.
National Night Out is an annual event held in communities around the United States to promote crime prevention and drug prevention.
Lena’s National Night Out will include a visit by the Eagle III flight helicopter and demonstrations by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit, tae kwon do instructors and the Lena Fire Department. The Lena Police Department will perform a field sobriety test using vision goggles.
On display will be a Lena police vehicle, state trooper vehicle, Department of Natural Resources/forestry vehicle with Smokey Bear, a Lena fire truck and an Oconto Falls Area Ambulance Service ambulance.
Oconto County Health and Human Services will distribute information at its informational booth.
Activities include a coloring contest, inflatable bounce house, bungee run and face painting. Lena Friends of the Library and Lena High School’s National Honor Society will provide games. The NHS also will operate a dunk tank. Kids can register for a chance to win a bike and bike helmet.
Free food, including cupcakes, will be served. Prizes will be awarded. Everyone is welcome.
