Oconto County Board Chairman Lee Rymer was recently re-elected as president of the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation (County Mutual).
Wood County Board Chairman Lance Pliml was elected as vice president and Calumet County Board Supervisor Bill Barribeau as secretary-treasurer.
The term of office for all three positions is three years.
“These three individuals are leaders both in their own counties and on a statewide level,” said Mark D. O’Connell, executive director of the Wisconsin Counties Association, which administers the program. “Their work on the County Mutual Board has helped this company thrive. I am confident they will continue to guide this board, working closely with member counties to help control their insurance costs, with the goal of also saving taxpayer dollars.”
County Mutual provides comprehensive liability insurance to three-quarters of the 72 counties in Wisconsin. In addition to insurance, the company offers a wide array of services to member counties. Some of these services include loss control incentive programs, highway safety rodeos, firearms training simulators, online safety training, safety newsletters and educational seminars.
According to John Dirkse, executive vice president of Aegis Corporation, which administers the program, County Mutual has seen tremendous success in the industry.
“We have always stood out from our competition because of the vision of the Wisconsin local officials on this board, our strong risk prevention policy and proactive claims management,” he said.
The Wisconsin Counties Association, along with county officials from around the state, created the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation in 1987 to provide quality liability insurance substantially at cost to its members.
