Every year The Cottages on Golden Pond in Shawano employees select a co-worker who goes above and beyond every day in helping take care of the Cottages family. The individual receives the Outstanding Contributor Award.
The Cottages Investment Group LLC purchased The MeadowLands Assisted Living in May 2014 and incorporated this program in Oconto Falls as well.
Cindy Nickels, who has worked at MeadowLands for 15 years, was chosen by her team for her excellent care and desire to go above and beyond to make tenants happy. Nickels has the ability to turn someone’s hard day into one filled with laughter, said a statement from The Cottages announcing the award.
“She is great to work with and she knows just what everyone needs!” the statement said.
“I was so happy to see that Cindy was still working for The MeadowLands when we purchased the facility last year,” said Cara Peterson, The Cottages general manager. “She’s been there since my brother Jim opened the building in 2000, and nobody knows it better than she! We are very proud to recognize her for the excellent care she provides every day. She is a mentor to our staff members, as well as a mentor to younger nursing assistants starting in this business.”
Jessica Kilgore, who works at the new MeadowLands Memory Care facility in Oconto Falls, was chosen by her co-workers for the employee recognition because of her compassion, desire to learn and excellent team work.
“Jessica is one of those sweet souls that brightens a room just by walking in it. She has grown more professionally than any employee I’ve ever had, in such a short amount of time,” Peterson said. “Jessica has been a sponge when it comes to learning about dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and clearly enjoys the rewards and challenges of caring for those with the disease. She is an excellent representation of her entire Cottages team and a reason why our Memory Care facility had full occupancy within five months. Jessica’s love of her career truly shows on her face and in her smile every day.”
