The Oconto Area Humane Society & Animal Shelter Inc. has appointed Lexi Woodworth as shelter director, as of Aug. 1. Woodworth has worked at the shelter for four years, including one year as the assistant director.
Woodworth replaces Jessica Beaumia, who is still employed at the shelter as an animal care technician. Beaumia, who wanted to have more time to care for the animals and less time doing director activities, is helping Woodworth transition into the director position.
Woodworth is a graduate of Oconto High School and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in human biology .
“I have seen the shelter grow quickly over the past four years, and I want to continue moving the shelter in a forward direction,” Woodworth said. “I would love to see the shelter become more involved in the community. There is a wealth of knowledge at OAHS that is a great resource in many aspects of animal care.
“In addition to community involvement, I hope to continue improving animal care at the shelter, which is always our first priority. I encourage everyone to stop by the shelter and meet our amazing adoptable pets and to ask any questions they may have. With the community’s help, we can continue making a difference.”
