Oconto Falls High School senior Bailey Wolf and Gillett High School sophomore Lauren Herzog have advanced to the WIAA Cross-Country State Meet on Saturday in Wisconsin Rapids.
Wolf placed sixth in Oconto Falls’ Division 2 sectional in Tomahawk with a time of 19:57 on Saturday. She has ran at the state meet three previous times, with her best finish being 35th place as a freshman.
Lauren Herzog finished in ninth place in the Tigers’ Division 3 sectional at Amherst. Herzog also raced at state last season and finished in 21st place with a time of 20:23.
To advance to state, the top-two teams from each sectional advance, as well as the top-five runners who are not on advancing teams.
Oconto Falls scored 241 points in the girls race and 181 in the boys race, with neither being good enough to advance the team.
Herzog was one of four runners for Gillett, which could not compile a team score because it did not have a full team.
