Sixteen Oconto Falls High School choir students participated in the 2015 Wisconsin Choral Directors Singing in Wisconsin Festival at Chilton High School.
The festival includes four choirs — youth choir, men’s choir, women’s choir and mixed choir — for students in grades five-12.
The state festival is held at four sites: West Milwaukee, Chippewa Falls, Wausau and Chilton. Singers perform the same songs at each site. Students attend rehearsals throughout the day, and the music-making culminates with a concert for family and friends. Over 2,000 choral musicians participated in this year’s WCDA statewide event.
Choir students from Oconto Falls High School participated in the following ensembles: Andrea Spang and Makenzie Staidl, women’s choir; and Ashley Baeten, Ali Clark, Jennifer Longsine, Shaianne Thompson, Makenna Kussow, Hailey Ferfecki, Megan Zielinski, Mara Grasse, Kaitlin Kramarczyk, Cortney Meunier, Vicky Kozlovsky, Camden Jackson, Wylie Howey, and Peter Murphy, mixed choir.
Selections for the women’s choir included “Wind of the Western Sea,” “She Sings,” “Apple Tree Wassail” and “Music Lead the Way.” The choir’s guest conductor was Karen Bruno, director of the Lawrence Academy of Music girl choir in Appleton.
Selections for the mixed choir were “Gaudeamus Hodie,” “Come To the Music,” “No Need To Knock,” and “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” The choir’s guest conductor was Michael Rosewall of St. Norbert College in De Pere.
