Jeanette Donna Mae Nemetz, 91, of Weston, formerly of Wittenberg, passed away Jan. 25, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center, Weston.
She was born at home in the Town of Wittenberg on Jan. 19, 1934, to the late Albert and Caroline (Rosenthal) Foth. She grew up near Elderon and graduated from Elderon Grade School in 1948 and Wittenberg High School in 1952. She married LaVerne Matz in 1954. They later divorced. On Aug. 14, 1982, she married Daniel Nemetz, who preceded her in death.
She had a lot of waitress jobs over the years. She also drove semi-truck with Dan. She was a dietary aide at Homme Home in Wittenberg for 16 years. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball for Wolff’s Den women’s team of Elderon, also pitching horseshoes, bowling, camping, fishing, dancing, playing cards, reading, going out to eat and listening to polka and country western music. She was a member of the Never Idle Home Makers Club (last surviving) and the Court Whist Card Club.
Survivors include a son, Randy (Theresa) Matz, Wausau; daughter-in-law, Kelle Matz, Weston; six grandchildren, Aaron (Leanne) Matz, Wausau, Peter (Lisa) Matz, Eau Claire, Matthew (Valerie) Matz, Spring, Texas, Brenda Matz, De Pere, Kaleb Matz, Weston, Kimberly Lawson, Lexington, South Carolina; and eight great-grandchildren, Sophie, Emaline, Silas, Miriam, Winton, Eloise, Abram and Genevie.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Kelvin (Kelly) Matz and Gregory (Greg) Matz; a sister, Delores Ryser; a brother, James Foth; stepfather, Fred Warnecke; three brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and her spoiled cat, Abby.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at Schmidt and Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. The Rev. Peter Keyes will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Morris at a later date.
