Bonduel golfers win sectional title

May 28 Division 3 Wabeno/Laona Sectional Bonduel’s golfers won the sectional championship and Lena placed second as both teams advanced to the state tournament following their top play at McCauslin Brook Golf Course in Lakewood. The Bears scored 313, and the Wildcats scored 317. Gillett scored a 409 and finished in 12th place out of 12 teams. For Bonduel, Colin Margelofsky and Jake Dreyer each scored 77. Colin Fischer had a 79, and Jaxon Bogacz was at 80. Reed Luepke sacred 90. Lena’s Braden McVane, a senior, was the medalist with a 75. He was joined by Mason Spice with 77, Drake Dionne with 81 and Mason Belongia with 84. Evan VanderZanden scored 85. Gillett’s four scores came from Thomas Carmody at 95, Aydin Franti at 99, Mats Harden at 102 and Tyler Frank at 113. Katelyn Sturm hit 131. The state meet will be held June 3-4 at Blackwolf Run - Meadows Course in Kohler. Division 1 Notre Dame (Green Bay) Sectional Pulaski’s season ended after golfers placed fifth out of eight teams with a 327 at Thornberry Creek at Oneida Golf Course in Hobart. Dixon Holewinski scored a 77 and tied with Appleton West’s Collin Evers and Bay Port’s Karsen Kruse. Holewinski lost to Evers on the first playoff hole in the tiebreaker, as Evers advanced to the state meet. Joining Holewinski were Colin Schultz with an 81, Brady Hayward with an 83 and Zachary Valeria with an 86. Connor Burant scored 88. Shawano junior Blake Knope scored a 94 to end his season. Division 2 Luxemburg-Casco Sectional Oconto Falls golfers placed ninth out of 12 teams to end their season at Northbrook Golf and Grill in Luxembourg. The Panthers scored 368. Kadyn Riel led Oconto Falls with a 79 in a six-way tie for 12th place. Joining him for the overall team score were Carson McDermid with a 93, Isaiah Hirst with 97 and Austin Anderson at 99. Jackson McDonald scored an even 100. Wittenberg-Birnamwood senior Joey Seegmiller scored an 84 and finished in a four-way tie for 26th. kpasson@newmedia-wi.com
