Ryan McVickar is one step closer to opening his own business, RBS Auto and Truck Repair, in the Town of Herman.
His business plan and conditional use permit was approved in March by the Town of Herman, and on May 1, approval was granted by the Shawano Planning, Development and Zoning Committee. Now, it’s being forwarded to the Shawano County Board for final approval.
The business will be located at N4909 County Road U, Shawano, which is the northwest corner of County Road U and County Road M.
The site contains a house and two outbuildings, with the repair business to be located in the northernmost building.
McVickar said the business will offer repairs and maintenance of cars, trucks, boats, trailers, RVs and other motorized vehicles. It will not include body repair or painting beyond “touchups.”
Preventive maintenance will include such things as oil changes, fluid changes, tire rotations, vehicle inspections, Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections, suspension and brake repair, engine diagnostics and repair, electrical, exhaust and some welding services.
McVickar cited several years of experience in his application to the county.
He said he is DOT annual inspection certified, air brakes certified, ASE certified, has years’ experience at an auto dealer setting, eight years as a diesel heavy truck technician in a dealership setting and three years in customer service and managing a business.
The county placed several standard conditions on the business, including limiting the business to three vehicle repair bays and no more than 10 vehicles, including those of McVickar, on the site at any time.
