Former supper club site expected to host mini warehouses

The site of a former supper club in Birnamwood is expected to soon be the home for a mini warehousing operation. The Shawano County Planning, Development and Zoning Committee met April 3 for a public hearing on a conditional use permit for the proposed new business. Eric Reeder of Schofield is proposing to build a 35-foot by 176-foot, 16-unit personal storage facility at N7691 Hummingbird Road in the Town of Birnamwood. The 0.482-acre site is at the intersection of Hummingbird Road and U.S. Highway 45. It was formerly the site of R Place Supperclub, which has since been razed, and the parcel has been cleared for development. The area is zoned commercial community, and a conditional use permit is required for a personal storage facility in that zoning category. The Town of Birnamwood waived its public hearing requirement at its Feb. 13 meeting. After the public hearing, the committee met for its regular meeting, with consideration of the proposal on that agenda.
