Relay for Life continues cancer fight at SCHS

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Shawano-Menominee will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 6 at Shawano Community High School, 220 County Road B, Shawano. Hundreds of volunteers and participants at this community event will celebrate cancer survivors, remember those lost to the disease and take action to fight against cancer. The opening ceremony, which includes a special survivors and caregivers lap, will begin at 9 a.m. A luminaria ceremony to honor cancer survivors and remember those lost to cancer will take place at noon. The theme for the event this year is Rings of Hope. Activities will include large bucket drawing, Escape Puzzles sponsored by Shawano County Library, Total Fitness class, Shuffles Performance Team, children and adult games, live DJ and more. Survivors and those who have raised over $100 will receive their 2024 Relay for Life T-shirt mailed directly. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is seeking volunteers who would like to make a difference in the Shawano-Menominee area by helping during the local Relay for Life event. Volunteers will help greet people, set-up, register participants, decorate and sell luminaria bags, tear down and more. Volunteer support is crucial to the event and will help the American Cancer Society create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
