A Keshena man was indicted this week in federal court on two counts of assaulting his domestic partner.
Arrelio R. Escalante, 36, allegedly punched and strangled, to the point of being unconscious, a woman with whom he had a domestic relationship with.
The woman suffered serious bodily injuries including a broken nose and severe bruising.
On Feb. 27, Escalante was indicted with one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury and one count of domestic assault by strangulation.
Both offenses allegedly occurred on Feb. 8 on the Menominee Indian Reservation.
If convicted on both counts, Escalante faces a maximum of 20 years in prison followed by a term of supervised release.
No information regarding Escalante’s custody status or future court dates was available Friday.
The Menominee Tribal Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case.
