Man dies in apparent overdose at Menominee Tribal Detention Center

One man died of an apparent overdose the night of Dec. 23 at the Menominee Tribal Detention Center. Authorities were called to the detention center for an apparent overdose. On arrival, authorities found three male inmates appearing to be overdosing on an unknown substance. Authorities administered Narcan to all three victims. Two of the victims quickly regained consciousness. The third victim was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene. Menominee Tribal Detention Center Administrator Rebecca McCann said the Department is cooperating with local, FBI and Bureau of Indian Affairs agencies in the investigation. As an ongoing investigation, no additional information is being released. Menominee Tribal Detention Center staff were assisted on scene by Menominee Tribal Ambulance Service, Shawano Ambulance Service, Menominee Tribal Police Department, Menominee County Sheriff’s Department and Menominee Tribal Conservation Department.
