Michael Dennis Buss was born Dec. 8, 1944, in Eland to Anton and Victoria Buss. He entered heaven on Oct. 18, 2022, at the age of 77. Michael resided in Plover in the home he took great pride in for 45 years with his two beloved dogs, Maggie and Bella.
Michael was the youngest of five children and spent his early years growing up on his family’s dairy farm, where he developed a lifelong passion for hunting and the outdoors. He spent 50 years married to the love of his life, Martha Suzanne Buss. Mike was a proud veteran of the United States Army, served as the Portage County highway commissioner for 22 years and spent the majority of his summers coaching and umpiring baseball.
Mike had a green thumb and enjoyed caring for his 2-acre yard in Plover. He had a passion for breeding German Short-haired Pointers and was proud to have raised countless puppies that were loved by families all over the country. However, Michael’s greatest passion by far was being a father and grandfather to his two sons, Michael and Matthew, and his eight grandchildren.
Left to honor him are his children Michael (Genette), Matthew (Stephanie) and Solveig (Jorgen); grandchildren Jackson, Luke, Madison, Lilly, Michael, Robert, Olivia and Matthew; siblings Robert, James and Anthony; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Buss; parents, Anton and Victoria Buss; and sister, Mary Jane Zdroik.
Michael’s sons, Michael and Matthew, invite family, friends and all others whose lives Mike touched to join in a celebration of his life. Details at a later date.
