Debra Lee Maass, nee Coppens, 66, of Plainfield, Illinois, formerly of Oconto Falls, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Dec.11, 1955, in Oconto Falls to her late parents, Norman and Lucile Coppens.
Cherished wife of Hans J. Maass, wedded on July 2, 1973. Beloved mom of Michele (Brian) Prescott of Prosper, Texas, and Derek (Zara) Maass of Joliet, Illinois. Adored grandma of Nathan and Natalie Prescott and Julian Maass. Loving sister of Danny (Dawn) Coppens, Julie Harteau, Patti (Charlie) Zielinski, Charles Coppens, Robert (Angela) Coppens, Norman Coppens, Todd Coppens, Peggy (Rob) Collins and the late David, James, and Gerald Coppens. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Debbie graduated from Oconto Falls High School, class of 1974, and 1995 graduate of Lewis University. Debbie and Hans founded and operated Hannic Inc. of Plainfield, Illinois (Freight Logistics), from 1988 until retirement in 2022. Debbie loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She poured her heart and soul into Hannic and treated the employees like family. She enjoyed travelling and spending time at her family’s lake house in Iron River, Michigan.

Memorial visitation 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Overman-Jones Funeral & Cremation Services, 15219 Joliet Road, Plainfield, Illinois. Additional Memorial Visitation 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, Sept. 22, at Grace Lutheran Church, 501 S. Main St. Oconto Falls, with Memorial Service to follow at noon at Church. Interment is private.
