Magdaline “Manny” Kobes, 95, of Green Bay, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022.
Manny was born Dec. 22, 1926, in Lena to the late Paul and Josephine (Matuzeski) Kramer. She attended Birch Grove Grade School (one room) and Lena High School, graduating in 1944. Following graduation, she moved to Milwaukee to work at a defense company. Later, she went to work at the Wisconsin Telephone Company where she worked for 37 years before retiring in 1982.
She married the love of her life, Melvin Kobes, in Lena on Oct. 3, 1959. Manny and Mel were bigger than life, and a room would just light up when they walked in.
Manny is survived by her sister, Charity “Cherry” (Charles) Kroeger, and special niece, Dolores “Lala” Redding Hanson. Manny is also survived by her seven godchildren, William Kramer, Terry Kramer, Kevin Severa, Heidi Vander Zande, Jeff Piper, Bill Moore and Jamie (St. Louis) Weigelt; as well as dozens and dozens of other nieces and nephews who all loved their Aunt Manny.
In addition to her husband and parents, Manny was preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law Richard (Ella) Kramer, Anthony (Norma) Kramer, Bernard (Maybelle) Kramer and Charles (Irene) Kramer; sisters and brothers-in-law Dolores (Kenneth) Brown, Margaret (Robert) Wesling, Martha (Joseph) Bintz, Katherine (Jerome) McGowan, Audrey (Earl) Piper, Irene Redding, Mary Sinacola and Theresa Severa.
Family and friends may call at St Anne’s Catholic Church, 221 E. Main St., Lena, on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, from 9-11 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at the church, with the Rev. Felix Abano officiating. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Lena.

The family would like to thank everyone at Marla Vista Assisted Living and Moments Hospice for their care and concern. Also, a special thanks to nieces and nephews Deborah Wilson, Janice Ambrosius, Kevin Severa, Jeannie St. Louis and Jeff Piper for all the love and care they provided to Manny in her final years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Lena Public Library, where they will be used to purchase children’s books.
