Today, I would like this column to serve as on open letter to Dr. RC Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology Inc. (SIST), Marom Golan Corporation of USA Inc., Timtza Etzepo Corporation of USA Inc. and Beit Mamtakin of USA Inc.
During my term in office, Kal Gronvall, Naomi Isaacson, Zachariah Sindt and Linda Gray acknowledged they were responsible for pamphlets, newsletters, news releases or videos about me.
I have been accused of being evil, bigoted, a racist and Hitler-like. Former CEO Isaacson said I have attempted to destroy your businesses, tried to shut you down and financially hurt you. It was also claimed that I created laws that only apply to your businesses. Although I would argue I am none of those things, nor have I done the things you have accused me of doing, at this point it doesn’t really matter.
In April, a new mayor will be elected. If it is your contention and belief that it was me who in some way offended or treated SIST and/or your subsidiaries unfairly, then when my term ends, so should the animosity. This could be and SHOULD BE a new beginning for SIST and city relations.
You are operating three gas stations, a hotel and a department store/fudge shop on Main Street. You also own many other properties within the city. Blighted and deteriorating properties include the former Muehl’s building, Probation and Parole, Ponderosa, Subway and Senzig buildings among others. I am aware you are doing some required repairs, but much more is needed.
Our community is concerned about all vacant store fronts, not only those belonging to you or your holding companies, but all of them. More businesses bring more people into our city, which in turn helps all local businesses, yours included.
With new leadership, I ask that you put aside your differences with the city of Shawano and join together with them to move Shawano forward. It would be wonderful for the community if all vacant buildings were refurbished and occupied, leased or sold to those who will use them.
Shawano is a diversified city with caring people. Why not work together? The time has come to set aside differences and work together to make Shawano the best that it can be.
I am confident any one of the six mayoral candidates will be open to working with you, as I would have, given that opportunity. The time is right for change; please consider being a positive part of that change.
