Marlon Curtis White Wing “Hųk nįkcąk” (The Child of The Chief), 71, of Shawano, died on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay.
Marlon was born on May 19, 1952, in Lyndon Station, the son of Raymond and Elizabeth (Stacy) White Wing.
In Marlon’s younger years, he attended Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas, Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa, and the College of Menominee Nation in Keshena. Marlon enjoyed playing cards and cribbage, as well as reading about detective stories, Westerns, science, world events and local news. He loved traveling, especially to different casinos to play the slot machines and bingo.
Spending time with family was most important to Marlon and he had a great love for his Grandma Florence and Aunt Caroline’s homemade baking and cooking.
Marlon is survived by his siblings, Errol “Sidney” White Wing, of Wittenberg, and Estelle “Scotty” White Wing, of Baraboo, along with many nieces and nephews.
Marlon was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Elijah “Tony” White Wing (The Chief), Martha “Mona” Neubert, Jeanette “Jinx” White Wing, Beverly “Bubbles” White Wing and Juanita “Nita” White Wing.
A meal will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at the Siga Funmaker Community Center, Wittenberg, with comfort devotions to follow at 7 p.m. Visitation will be on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Siga Center, from 8 a.m. until the time of the devotional service at 10 a.m. A meal will follow.
