Ginny O’Harrow, president of Little Hearts for Life, was a presenter at the fourth annual Neurodevelopmental Symposium held recently in Milwaukee.
Milwaukee hosted the symposium with the help of a $20,000 donation to Children’s Hospital given by Little Hearts for Life. The funds were raised at the organization’s third annual corn roast in 2013.
The symposium had previously been held in Boston, Atlanta and Cincinnati. Attending the symposium were 230 people representing 25 states and six countries.
Hosting the symposium was a huge achievement for the city of Milwaukee, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Little Hearts for Life, said O’Harrow, who spoke at the symposium about philanthropy.
O’Harrow, of rural Oconto Falls, told about Little Hearts, the local community and how great everyone has been in supporting the mission of “raising awareness, funding research and changing lives” for people living with a form of congenital heart defects and those who will suffer from congenital heart defects in the future.
In its first four years of hosting the annual corn roast, Little Hearts has raised and donated $73,000 to pediatric cardiac research at Children’s Hospital.
