LaVerne E. Roth, 87, of Eland, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015.
LaVerne was born on Aug. 28, 1928, in Clintonville, to the late Walley and Myrtle (Behling) Pingel. She grew up on her parents’ farm in the Clintonville area.
On April 28, 1946, LaVerne married Robert Roth, of Eland, at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Clintonville. Together they farmed for 31 years in the Eland area and raised five boys. After LaVerne and Bob moved off the farm, LaVerne worked as a cook at the Birnamwood Elementary School.
Family gatherings meant a lot to LaVerne. She loved being with all her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, and family gatherings always included several of her wonderful pies. Her chocolate cake with boiled frosting was a family favorite. She loved making wedding cakes and enjoyed camping and gardening.
Her faith, love of family and spirit of always putting others first is what she will always be remembered for.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Robert; her four sons, Larry (Deb), Dennis (Mary), Milan (Brenda) and Robert Jr. (Rose); her grandchildren, Cheri (Chris) Dieringer, David Roth, Leslie (Doug) Brei, Bobby, Terri, Laura and Michelle Roth; her great-grandchildren, Alex and Julia Dieringer, Koy and Jay Brei; her stepgrandchildren, Melissa (Ron) Hall, Brittany Kessel and Parker Kessel; her great-stepgrandchildren, Eve Hall, Adam and Kassie Kessel; one great-stepgrandchild due at the end of October; her sister, Carolee Roth; her brothers, Arlyn (Joyce) Pingel, Marlyn (Merry) Pingel and Walley (Debbie) Pingel; daughter-in-law, Kathy Roth; brother-in-law, Jackie (Irene) Roth; and many nieces and nephews.
