Laurel Len Schroeder, 85, of Gillett, passed peacefully at home on June 16, 2024.
Laurel was born March 10, 1939, to Joseph and Mary Chapin. She was the youngest of 17 children.
Laurel lived a life full of love. If she was not on a hay wagon or driving a tractor, you would find her in her garden. She would be wearing a cute sundress, and her toenails would be painted a perfect shade of red. In her younger years, her and her husband Vernon hosted many fun get-togethers with family and friends on the farm.
Laurel and Vernon were married Aug. 30, 1958, and together they raised four sassy boys. They farmed, they logged, they hunted and they fished together. They went on many adventures and traveled with friends often.
In her later years, she enjoyed her trips to church (the casino), and her home was the center of many coffee clutches. Her door was always open, and if you were lucky, she might have her fresh cinnamon rolls ready for you. She enjoyed time with her boys and their families. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Laurel is survived by her sons, Bannon (Jill), Shane (Beth) and Faron (Mary); her grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; and many more loved ones.
She ws preceded in death by her parents; many siblings; husband, Vernon; son, Duran; and her grandson, Wyatt.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date, yet to be determined.
Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family. Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com.
Special thanks to the wonderful team with Unity Hospice also, to Beth and Mary for their great care that allowed for Laurel to pass at home, peacefully, just like she had wished.
Laurel L. Schroeder
