Joan Shirley Korth, 79, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Oak Haven. Born on Feb. 4, 1934, in Gresham, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Mathilda (Hoffman) Lechterman.
On Nov. 16, 1957, she was united in marriage to Roger M. Korth in the town of Richmond. The couple owned and operated Korth’s General Store. Joan also worked as a cook at Heartland Health Care Center in Shawano. She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano and enjoyed traveling and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens.
Joan is survived by five children, Michael (Rene) Korth, Suzanne (Jeff) Breitrick, Jeff (Sue) Korth, Kathleen White and Carol (Scott) Paiser, all of Shawano; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, on Aug. 7, 2011; two sons, Martin A. “Marty” Korth and Tony Korth; two grandchildren, Ashley and Joshua; her parents; five sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Ted Andrada officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
