Panthers’ Stoinski ties for 37th in D2
Oconto Falls senior Jacob Stoinski shot scores of 89 and 90 to tie for 37th among 48 competitors at the WIAA Division 2 state golf tournament June 8 and 9 at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona.
Adam Miller, of Lodi, won the individual title with scores of 71 and 73 on the par-72 course.
Stoinski qualified for state by placing third, with a round of 75, at the Freedom sectional at Irish Waters Golf Course.
Warden named to all-conference 2nd team
Gillett Secondary School junior golfer Brock Warden last week was named to the All-Marinette & Oconto Conference second team.
Peshtigo freshman Bryce Jacobson was the conference golfer of the year.
BASEBALL
Two Hornets named honorable mention
There were no first- or second-team Marinette & Oconto Conference honors in Gillett/Suring’s inaugural co-op season, but two Hornets — sophomore Chris Geniesse and junior Garrett Kohls — received honorable mention.
Junior Tyler Marquardt of Peshtigo and senior Alex Stodola of Coleman shared player of the year honors.
