GIRLS VOLLEYBALL SCHS places 3rd at Portage meet Shawano defeated Madison West, Portage and Green Bay Preble at the Portage Invitational on Saturday en route to a third-place finish. Shawano lost in the first match of the day to River Valley. After losing to River Falls, the Hawks rebounded to defeat Preble in straight sets in the round-robin tournament. Erika Dunnam again led the way for the Hawks with 46 kills, eight solo blocks and 22 digs. Senior setter Annelies Young tallied 55 assists, along with 15 attack kills and 13 digs. Miranda Washinawatok and Kate Senzig each added seven kills for Shawano. Saige Henning recorded 11 digs. Hawks fall in straight sets Shawano played Seymour close through the first two sets Tuesday night before falling 25-21, 25-21, 25-10. Erika Dunnam led Shawano (2-10, 3-2 Bay Conference) with 17 kills and 34 digs on the night. Saige Henning added 24 digs for the Hawks. Annelies Young had 25 assists for SCHS. Bonduel loses to Shiocton Bonduel, led by Danee Collier’s 23 digs, was not able to overcome a strong Shiocton team during a 25-12, 26-28, 25-12 loss on the road Tuesday. Hayley Pues recorded six kills and five blocks to lead Bonduel (13-14, 2-5 Central Wisconsin Conference-8). Setter Miranda Schmidt added eight assists. Kailee Pedersen had two aces. Eagles win in 5 sets Menominee Indian lost two of the first three sets Tuesday night to Marion, but battled back to win sets four and five in a 23-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 15-13 victory. Kelsey Corn and Monea Waukau each tallied 26 assists. Corn added 10 kills; Waukau had nine. Autumn Chevalier recorded 23 assists for the Eagles. BOYS SOCCER Gresham/Bowler 2nd at home invite Gresham/Bowler lost to Wisconsin Valley Lutheran 4-1 in the opening match of the invitational in Gresham on Saturday and defeated Central Wisconsin Christian in a shootout to end the day. Justice Paiser recorded 15 saves for Gresham/Bowler. Hawks scoreless in loss to GB East Shawano was unable to find that back of the net during Tuesday’s 7-0 loss to Green Bay East. Shawano (4-11-1, 1-6 Bay Conference) allowed just one first-half goal, but the Red Devils scored immediately coming out of the half and added five more in the following 33 minutes. Senior Manny Morel recorded 14 saves and Tyrell Hesse seven for Shawano. Panthers lose close match Levi Ludvigsen scored the lone goal for Gresham/Bowler in a 2-1 loss to Green Bay NEW Lutheran on Tuesday. Justice Paiser earned nine saves for Gresham/Bowler.
